Food Safety at FoodSaver

At FoodSaver, your health and safety come first. We work closely with our partner businesses to make sure that every meal offered through our platform is safe, fresh, and handled with care. Here's how we do it:

1. Verified Partner Businesses Only

We only work with licensed and registered food establishments—restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and grocery stores—that follow national food safety regulations. This means

  • Proper hygiene and handling practices
  • Safe storage and temperature control
  • Regular health inspections

No individuals or unregulated sellers are allowed on the platform.

2. Time-Sensitive Pickups

Food is only available during carefully chosen pickup windows—usually just before the business closes. This ensures surplus food is still fresh and safe for immediate consumption.

3. Surprise Bags With Transparency

Our meals are “surprise bags,” but you’ll always know the “type of food” you're getting (e.g., vegetarian, meat-based, baked goods). Businesses also tag items that contain common allergens when possible.

4. Shared Responsibility

Once you pick up your food, it’s important to store it properly (refrigerate if needed) and eat it soon. We recommend consuming your items the same day to enjoy them at their best.

5. We Educate and Inform

We regularly share helpful tips on:

  • Understanding “best before” vs. “use by” dates
  • How to safely store leftovers
  • How to judge food freshness using your senses
